What it SeQueRe?
SeQueRe is a pioneering project for the charging infrastructure of battery electric cars. Under the name "Standardised Management of Queueing and Reservation for EV charging stations", SeQueRe is working on developing a barrier-free solution for queuing and reservation functions at (semi-)public charging points. The aim is to improve the efficiency of the charging process and increase accessibility for all users. As part of a dedicated consortium of funded and associated partners, state-of-the-art technology is being integrated to facilitate the use of electric vehicles and promote their acceptance. With a focus on safety and quality, SeQueRe strives to make a significant contribution to promoting electric mobility and shaping a sustainable future.
The SeQueRe project is being funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport Affairs with a total of 2,157,482 euros as part of the BMDV's electromobility funding guideline. The funding guideline is coordinated by NOW GmbH and implemented by Project Management Jülich (PtJ).
The consortium consists of the following partners:
Our Motivation
The transformation to electromobility is causing a number of new challenges. In particular, the increasing number of battery electric vehicles is leading to the need for queue management and the development of a reservation function in order to reduce or even completely prevent waiting times at charging stations. To date, there have been little to no strategies and implementations to avoid uncontrolled queues. However, the challenges in the field of electromobility and charging infrastructure are very complex and affect a wide range of industries. We are therefore convinced that successful standardisation and development processes can only be achieved through cooperation between various market players in the electromobility and charging infrastructure ecosystem.
Our Vision
The Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport (BDMV) is supporting the market ramp-up of electromobility with the help of the "Innovations for sustainable mobility, electromobility" funding programme. The SeQueRe funding project derived from this programme aims to develop a comprehensive, market-wide and barrier-free solution for queuing and reservation functions. The project aims to improve the individual electric mobility experience by increasing transparency regarding the utilisation of the existing charging infrastructure. This will be achieved through more reliable planning of routes and charging sessions to create a simple and pleasant charging experience. End customers should receive a functional display at each customer interface as well as a transparent statement about the waiting time and the possible charging slot. In addition, the aim is to design the IT architecture by further developing protocols and standards to enable cross-data communication and compatibility across the entire ecosystem. This should ensure a trouble-free transition to electromobility.
The Consortium
Within the project, a consortium of car manufacturers, charging infrastructure operators and e-mobility service companies, platform providers as well as energy and consulting services and a university has formed to work together on a standardised, open system solution for queue management and a reservation function.
